Zewail City of Science, Technology, and Innovation has announced the relaunch of its Cultural Salon after several years of suspension.
Dr. Wael Akl, CEO of Zewail City, stated that in line with presenting inspiring Egyptian figures and icons of Egypt’s soft power across cultural, scientific, political, social, economic, and even sports fields, the City decided to revive the Salon. During its first season, the Salon hosted leading scientists and thinkers in dialogues with students and researchers, including Dr. Magdi Yacoub, Dr. Mohamed Ghoneim, Dr. Ahmed Okasha — all founding board members of the City alongside Nobel Laureate Dr. Ahmed Zewail — as well as Dr. Mostafa El-Sayed and Dr. Hassan Abou El-Einen, former Director of the Urology and Nephrology Center at Mansoura University.
Akl highlighted the importance of reviving Zewail’s Salon at this time, as Egypt moves steadily towards building a new and integrated society enriched with citizens who have contributed greatly to the nation. He emphasized the value of sharing their experiences and shining a light on their journeys of dedication and excellence, so they may serve as role models for the younger generation — the true future of the country.
He further noted that Zewail City possesses significant capabilities and advanced infrastructure worthy of Egypt’s scientists, having made remarkable strides in education and scientific research within a short period, despite the early passing of its founder, the great Nobel Laureate Ahmed Zewail.
Dr. Akl concluded that the first guest of the new season will be announced soon, followed by a distinguished group of Egyptian icons. The City will also ensure that its doors remain open to the public and visitors to participate in this major cultural event.
