Engineer Osama Genedy Praises Dr. Mohamed Shaker El-Markabi’s Achievements in the Electricity and Renewable Energy Sector

 

Engineer Osama Genedy, a member of the Energy Committee at the Egyptian Businessmen’s Association, has expressed deep appreciation for Dr. Mohamed Shaker El-Markabi, the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy in Egypt, lauding his significant accomplishments in this vital sector.

Engineer Genedy stated, “Dr. Mohamed Shaker El-Markabi has left an indelible mark on the electricity and renewable energy sector in Egypt. His achievements and contributions speak for themselves and serve as an inspiration for future generations of engineers and scientists in this crucial field. The scientific stature of this man cannot be denied.”

Genedy highlighted that Dr. Mohamed Shaker is one of the most prominent figures in Egypt’s electricity and energy sector, noting his substantial success since assuming the role of Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy in 2014. He has achieved numerous significant milestones that have contributed to the improvement and development of this vital sector.

He added, “Dr. Mohamed Shaker is distinguished by his strong academic background and extensive experience in electrical engineering and energy, making him a prominent figure in this field both locally and internationally. When he took office as Minister, Egypt faced major challenges in electricity provision, yet he managed to implement numerous large-scale projects that improved energy efficiency and increased production capacity.”

Genedy pointed out that the Ministry of Electricity is not responsible for the recent power outages due to the shortage of natural gas supplies to power plants, clarifying that this issue is beyond the Ministry’s responsibility.

He emphasized that under Dr. Shaker’s leadership, significant production capacities have been added from power plants, both conventional and renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power. “The establishment of the Benban Solar Park, one of the largest projects of its kind in the world, has significantly boosted the share of renewable energy in Egypt’s energy mix.”

Genedy also commended Dr. Shaker’s efforts in developing and modernizing the electricity transmission and distribution networks, which have improved efficiency and reduced losses in the networks. He noted that the Minister has implemented structural reforms in the electricity sector and sought to diversify energy sources.

Engineer Osama Genedy, a member of the Egyptian Businessmen’s Association and Chairman of the Energy Committee at the Egyptian-Korean Business Council, underscored the importance of opening a dialogue between the state, the private sector, and experts to present proposals for developing Egypt’s energy portfolio.

Genedy highlighted the necessity of providing incentives to increase investment in renewable energy: “Enhancing and expanding the use of solar, wind, and other renewable energy technologies to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.”

He stressed the importance of developing the electrical grid infrastructure: “Modernizing transmission and distribution networks to improve efficiency and reduce losses, contributing to the stability of electricity supplies.”

Genedy stated the importance of exploring new energy sources such as nuclear energy and liquefied natural gas to ensure energy source diversity and sustainability.

Additionally, he emphasized encouraging companies and individuals to adopt more efficient energy technologies and offering incentives for projects that help reduce energy consumption.

Engineer Osama Genedy also pointed to the development and training of human resources by preparing qualified personnel to manage and operate modern projects through specialized training programs.

Furthermore, he advocated for supporting research and studies in the energy field to develop innovative solutions that enhance the sustainability and efficiency of the energy sector, as well as leveraging international expertise and partnerships with leading countries in the energy field to exchange knowledge and technology.
