The U.S. Embassy Cairo is proud to be the primary supporter of the 10th Anniversary of Maker Faire Cairo.  The event, held at the GrEEK Campus in Cairo, showcased the ingenuity, innovation, and creativity of Egyptian creators.

Since its establishment in 2015, Maker Faire Cairo has flourished into one of the most significant Do-It-Yourself (DIY) festivals across the Middle East and North Africa, drawing thousands of enthusiasts each year.  Organized by San3a Tech in partnership with the American Center Cairo (ACC), the faire offered a dynamic arena for makers, artists, engineers, and innovators to present their creations and ignite inspiration in others.

These creators, artists, and engineers at Maker Faire this year are truly inspiring.  By coming together and sharing ideas, we can create a stronger, safer, and more prosperous future for both the United States and Egypt,” said U.S. Embassy Cairo Spokesperson Gina Cabrera.

This year, Maker Faire Cairo included over 50 workshops, 8 demonstrations, 15 exhibits, and a knowledge hub hosting talks and hands-on learning opportunities.  Topics ranged from robotics to woodworking and beyond.  This year’s faire welcomed more than 2,000 makers from Egypt and across the globe.

Originating at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2003, the Maker Faire has since gone global.  Maker Faire encourages individuals to think differently and transform their ideas into realities.  The 10th-anniversary celebration of Maker Faire Cairo highlights the remarkable growth of this dynamic community.

The U.S. Embassy in Cairo remains dedicated to promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic collaborations that foster mutual prosperity for youth in both Egypt and the United States.  By supporting initiatives such as Maker Faire Cairo, the American Center Cairo aims to empower young people to engage with science, technology, and the arts.
