The British Council Egypt hosted its 10th annual Principals’ Forum recently in Alexandria and in Cairo. It gathered principals and leaders from across schools delivering UK international qualifications, engaging in a dialogue about the use and development of artificial intelligence. Over 300 attendees came together in person to explore the important themes through keynote presentations and discussions.
The attendees of the conference were welcomed by Fakhar Jaffery Director of Exams, British Council Egypt, and Ms Iman Sabry, Assistant Minister, Ministry of Education.
A highlight of the forum was the session on “Interactive Learning Techniques”, presented by Farah Sharawy and Kesmat Taha, which showcased innovative approaches to enhance the learning experience. The session emphasised on strategies that can be implemented in classrooms to create dynamic and effective learning environments. The session on “Changing Mindsets – Preparing Teachers for the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” led by Mona Hassanein, provided attendees with valuable perspectives on the evolving landscape of education in the digital era. In addition, Amira Salama delivered a talk on wellbeing during which she covered what opportunities AI offers educators and how teacher well-being can be affected by it. During the session they also discussed the mental and psychological challenges that schools face in this digitalised era.
As the leader of the UK international schools’ community, the British Council focused on memorable highlights of 2022-2023, celebrating the success of its partners and their significant achievements over the last year.
On the conference, Ms Iman Sabry, Assistant Minister, Ministry of Education said, “The Ministry of Education is continually collaborating with the British Council to grow the expertise among the educational community in Egypt and today’s Principals’ Forum is a reflection of how the British Council supports the community of British schools in Egypt. British Council Partner Schools value their association with the British Council that supports their school as internationally focused, student-centred, and forward-thinking. Being part of this network gives schools the opportunity to raise educational standards, thereby raising the educational standards across Egypt.”
Closing the conference, Fakhar Jaffery, British Council Director Exams Egypt added, “Our aim for this conference was to bring together Principals of British Council Partner Schools from across Egypt to network and discuss vital education-related themes and the opportunities for the future. This mutual sharing of knowledge and experiences hugely benefits schools, teachers and learners. We look forward to continuing the dialogue so that schools can collaborate, network and learn from each other.”
Globally, British Council Partner Schools works with more than 2,100 schools, supports over 60,000 teachers and touches the lives of about one million students. With attendees from schools across Egypt, this event helps to support the mission of the British Council in building connections, understanding and trust through education.
